Ways to support us

Due to an increasing demand for Bethel Doula Service support, we are looking for 15 new energetic and caring volunteers to join our award winning team.

No formal qualifications are required. All that we ask is that you are able to commit a minimum of three hours a week to helping vulnerable and isolated pregnant women in Birmingham and Solihull.

We offer supportive supervision by Senior Doulas, a fantastic support network of other Volunteer Doulas, and a superb programme of training. The position is ideal for any adult female wanting to share her own life skills and experience, to give-back to the local community, or to gain unrivaled knowledge and experience helpful for a range of careers; including midwifery, nursing and care work.

“There are times when I felt very disturbed and alone without my mother during pregnancy, but with the Doula Service I was so calm and relaxed; feeling as if I had my sisters supporting me throughout my pregnancy.” Service User

“The service makes a real difference to families by affording them time and kindness when they most need it, ensuring that they are empowered to make choices that are right for them about their care. Many families leave the service having had a positive experience and with a network of peer support benefiting them for years to come.” Charlotte Barry

Commissioning Manager , Maternity, Children & Young People's Commissioning Team

“I really do thank god I had the Bethel Doula Service helping me. I didn’t have anything, or anyone. I don’t know what I would have done”
