About Us

We’re Bethel Health and Healing Network. We specialise in supporting vulnerable pregnant women and mothers living in Birmingham and the surrounding areas. We also provide a listening service called Rapha for anyone with low level mental health issues.

Doula Service

We have recently received funding for a new post to support women and their families who have experienced perinatal loss and may also be experiencing mental health issues as a result.

The new role of Peer Support Worker will be based with our Doula Service team. We pride ourselves on our close working relationships with the NHSother health care providers and partners. Together with a dedicated team of volunteers, we deliver a high quality and compassionate service for our clients.

About the role

As a Peer Support Worker, you will provide practical assistance, advice, and support to service users to assist their recovery. You will raise awareness of perinatal loss and/or perinatal mental health with service users, staff, managers and all other stakeholders. You will support the development and delivery of a wide range of interventions and encourage families to engage in activities and opportunities available to them to aid their recovery and remain well. You will model personal responsibility, self-awareness, self-belief, self-advocacy and hopefulness.

Support to undertake the role

Whilst a rewarding role, we recognise it will also be a demanding one. You will receive continuous support to enable you to undertake this role effectively. As part of this support, you will also receive pastoral supervision from a senior therapist if dealing with the effects of loss or triggers that arise from the work as well as learning concepts that you can use with your clients.

Closing date for applications: 5pm on 9 June 2021
Interview date: 17 June 2021

If you would like further information about the role, please contact us on 07471352 834 and ask for Iram Tariq or email enquiries@bethelnetwork.org.uk or Iram@bethelnetwork.org.uk.
