Parish Nursing

 

Parish Nursing provides whole person health care by:

  • health education and teaching to promote healthy lifestyles to develop understanding of the relationship between lifestyle, faith and well being
  • personal ealth counselling, to offer help with health problems, suggest appropriate plans for handling and coping with them
  • a communication link and support for community health resources and services, to offer referrals and act as a liaison resource
  • recruitment and training of volunteers to carry out a range of support services
  • organisation of support groups to assist people with particular health needs (e.g. diabetes, stroke)
  • advocacy to assist gaining access to services
  • being a resource to assist with assessment of community health needs

We currently run a Drop In centre in Sparkbrook on Wednesday mornings between 10.00 - 12.00 where we carry out free health checks, provide health advice, assist with benefit applications (such as housing, disability living allowance, income support) and a whole raft of other issues from problems with utility bills to pest control.

Come for regular BP monitoring, dietary advice and support, cholesterol and blood sugar screening

Volunteer with our team and undertake a variety of roles from home visits, assisting in our garden project or administration in a loving friendly atmosphere. Full training given.
